Larry Houghton - St. Johns, MI

An outstanding introduction to the area's bike path.  Thanks.  Tom's enthusiasm was a bit over the top, but still infectious.  We hope to make a trip to the area for biking and to take in a festival weekend.

I love watching your show because it offers a variety of destinations in our traveling area.  Great ideas for weekend trips.  We are very interested in Houghton Lake, so this was one of my favorites. You offered a variety of places to choose for families or couples; a little something for everyone.  Thanks you; keep up the great work.

Very informative.  I've been going to Tawas for 60 years and I saw things on the show that I wasn't aware of.  Granted I haven't been there for 2 years, but I didn't know about the pedal cars or some of the downtown pastry shops.

Enjoyed the show very much!!  Grandchildren are coming up from Texas this summer, this program has helped us with some ideas for entertaining the kids, and the DVD will be put to great use.  Thank You.

Super interesting-I've been trying for years to get the family to travel to that side of the state-there are also some good color tours in the Fall. This show has helped me convince them to try it out; looks like a fascinating place to visit. A very well balanced show I believe should interest a wide range of viewers and potential visitors to the town. Thank you.

Well done! All the times my family and I have driven through Tawas to Old Orchard in Oscoda to camp, we had no idea what we were missing. Keep up the Great and Informative shows on what this wonderful state of Michigan has to offer.

Awesome!  Just goes to show that you don't need to travel out of state to find the best that nature can offer.  After seeing the show, I started thinking, this would be a great place to take the whole family for a week.

Only caught a portion of the waterfalls show but what I saw was very cool. Especially love the getaways that are geared to retired (but still mobile) adventurers.

Jon Decker - Lansing, MI

This weeks episode was fantastic.  My grandparents used to have a cabin on Houghton lake and I spent most of my summers there.  Despite my growing up in the area there were a few things that I didn't know, so it was nice to learn about those.  And those things I did know about, it was nice to reminisce about them.  Thank you.  It made my day.
Saturday, May 15, 2010 3:25 PM

The show was very informative.  We have a cottage in the area and there were things highlighted in the show that we did not even know were around here.

I watch your program every week. I've learned more about the state of Michigan from this program than anywhere else. We really enjoyed the Bruce and Grey County episodes (Canada). My wife's grand parents had a cottage in Wiarton. Keep up the great work.

I look forward to your show every Saturday morning.  It's nice to know that we can find so many things to do for a weekend without having to leave the state of Michigan.  Looks like we will be planning a couple of weekends in the Houghton Lake area. Thanks for such a wonderful show.

Watched your show and really enjoyed it very much. I usually travel North (Lake Michigan) and because of your show and your outlining the various activities and features of different areas I am now anxious to travel to new destinations I would not normally have thought of. Thanks so much.

I don't normally watch television on Sunday mornings, but today I have a cold and was logging some "couch-time." Your show is the silver lining of having this cold. Thanks!

Well, I just loved it!  I had no idea that area had so much to offer, I have never been there, just passed by on the way to the bridge. Thanks for all the information, I am grateful.

I thought the show was fantastic.  I felt like I should be taking notes, so we can visit every place that was mentioned.  I would like to attend the Historic Festival, also.

JR Lomerson - Attica, MI

This past Saturday's show was great, I have been to Houghton Lake area, but was not aware of all the other great places to visit. I am especially interested in the nature preserve at St Helen. Actually, your dvd's allow the viewers another opportunity to see the show over and get a better idea where some of the places and particulars, before trying to locate them on their own. Thanks again for a great program and keep up the good work.

Thank you so much for the beautiful Canadian lighthouse show. My children and I enjoyed learning more about lighthouses since they learned a lot about them in school this year and did projects on the Michigan lighthouses.

Carol  Worscheck - Canton, MI

Hi,my 101 year old mother and I loved it! My mother is originally from MN but my father was born and raised in Harrisville,MI. A long time ago they took many road trips along the lake shores between MN and MI and saw many lighthouses which piqued my mothers love for them. Two years ago on a trip with my son and his wife, we saw the SplitRock lighthouse on Lake Superior and stayed at a very interesting place called The Naniboujou Lodge, also on Lake Superior. Wonderful trip!!!

It was beautiful.  I was so impressed with the clear water and the sunken ships.  How breath-taking that must be to see up close.  Thank you for such an informative series.

I thought this weeks show was very enjoyable. I have been to the U.P. many times but never visited Picture Rock. I never knew where the name came from. I especialy enjoyed the part about little and big beaver lakes.

Hello Folks,
Just a quick note to let you know how much I enjoy your show(s).  Since my return from Iraq last fall as a DoD Fire & Emergency Services Specialist, I really enjoy watching Great Getaways and learning new fun facts and historical tidbits about my beloved Michigan.
Your show makes my time away from home realize how blessed we are to live in such a beautiful state.
Thanks again and keep up the great job!
Sincerely,
Mike Curtis

Great. There is no other way to describe it. This program allows people to see what we have been truly blessed with, especially if you do not have the opportunity to travel to these destinations.

Only caught the last 15 minutes of the show, but we're very inspired to want to take the trip and walk the treetops. Last did a zip line in 1974 at a state
park in MD.

Very nice. I am anxious to take my boyfriend fishing in the park. Until I moved him to Houghton Lake from Lansing, he had never been north of Saginaw. I have a lot to show him and your site will be of a lot of help. Today was the first time I caught your show but will watch for it now.

Absolutely beautiful, brought back a lot of memories of traveling with our older children through the UP..Looking forward to being able to share the DVD with them and our grandchildren and they will hopefully be able to travel to the area as well now with their families. When we were there years ago, you could not get to the lighthouse, is that possible now?
Keep up the good work, love your show.

As far as we know the Manistique Lighthouse is and has been accessible for quite a while. Enjoy!

I have a great deal of family that lives in the Oscoda / Greenbush area and we have been up there many times since my grandparents moved there at the end of World War II. Not familiar with Clark's Marsh or Tuttle's Marsh unless it was recently developed from the old Bomber Range area that I used to prowl and hunt as a kid. Very interesting and look forward to check it out the next time we head north.
