What did you think of this week's show?
Sunday, January 01, 2012 10:46 AM
Mick Davis - Bronson, MI

We really enjoyed this week's show. We have been wanting to get more involved in winter activities, especially snowshoeing. We hike quite a bit and thought snowshoeing would be a natural winter activity for us. On the show you mentioned being able to rent snowshoes. That would seem like a good starting point for us.
Sunday, January 01, 2012 4:21 PM
Barbara Van Syckle - Jackson, MI

I loved it! I live in the Hiawatha National Forest six months a year, and am thrilled to see how beautifully you highlighted our area.
Sunday, January 01, 2012 4:29 PM
Jim Buckingham - McMillan, MI

I'm an avid "collector" of lighthouses and have photographed around 35, as well as 77 waterfalls of Michigan. I was intrigued as you showed lighthouses I have not photographed. Thank you.

I live in Florida but I am originally from Michigan.  I plan to visit in the winter and would find this info helpful. I would also like to share this DVD of exciting Michigan winter fun with my friends so that they would think about joining me when I come to Michigan.

I have just built a cabin on Lake Charlevoix, and this gives me some good ideas on how to enjoy it in the wintertime.
Saturday, January 07, 2012 9:10 AM

We loved it, we have always wanted to snow-shoe but had no idea where to rent or where to get started.
Saturday, January 07, 2012 12:06 PM
Westley Clements - Gowen, MI

Great show. I've done some snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, and trail hiking in the UP and the most spectacular sight is Taquamenon in the winter. Keep up the great work!
Saturday, January 07, 2012 12:33 PM
Rod Krumlauf - Troy, MI

Loved the show and have always wanted to try snowmobiling. This show might be what will get me started. Always look forward to your shows.

Hi, my husband is from Manisitique and his family is still there. We visit in the summertime. We went to all those places that you put on your show and I think it's even pretty in the snow....great show...and we went in every season so fun there's always something to do.

Saturday, January 07, 2012 12:56 PM
Stephen Rutha - Allen Park, MI

What did I think of this week's show? This week's show as well as all episodes was absolutely beautiful. Northern Michigan has the most beautiful scenery in the winter, and summer than any other state. My wife and I love Michigan and Great Getaways. I am 41 yrs old and have been watching the show religously every Saturday morning since I discovered it back in the mid to late 90s I believe. Your show is enjoyed by people of all ages. I wish I was able to get up north and participate in all of the wonderful winter activities but since I can't, I live it through your show. Tom is a great host for this show and it would not be the same without him. Tom and everybody, please keep up the good work & keep the awesome shows coming and I will keep watching. I appreciate having this show on PBS(WTVS & WCMU).
Saturday, January 07, 2012 12:46 PM
The Campbells - White Lake, MI

Once again we have just seen another part of the beautiful Upper Peninsula that we didn't know existed! My husband and I grew up in Michigan and every year we take a week in early winter to explore the U.P. We have driven thru Schoolcraft County many times but have never been to Palms State Park or the beautiful Big Springs. Thank you for showcasing this quiet little peace of heaven in this week's episode. Happy to be living in the "greatest" of our States!
Saturday, January 07, 2012 12:45 PM
Beverly Bandt - Applegate, MI

Enjoyed it very much.  You showed some places we weren't familiar with in the Hiawatha Nat'l Forest.   Also found the Schoolcraft Environmental Lab interesting--but need details on location so we can go there.   The show is so interesting, you could have filled a whole hour or more.
Saturday, January 07, 2012 4:31 PM
Ryan Methner - Mt. Pleasant, MI

I am a snowmobiler who goes to the UP every year to ride.  This show gave me another perspective on how beautiful this state of Michigan is.  I wish some of the restaurants that I go to would still be open.  I really enjoyed this show today.
Saturday, January 07, 2012 4:28 PM
Larry Mynhier - Eaton Rapids, MI

I really enjoyed this episode as the UP is a completely different place in the winter.
Saturday, January 07, 2012 4:40 PM
Paula Parkinson - Caro, MI

The scenery was spectacularly photographed. Storyline of your adventure throughout the program flowed nicely. Narration was also interesting, clear, and spoken at a good relaxing, and understandable pace. Areas in the U.P that are off the beaten path and I feel are exquisite, beautiful, and never seen by most are several.  Although you already probably know of them. Gee, almost wish I could go. Enjoyed your show!  Nice to reminisce after living up there between 1980 & 1984.  Should've stayed.
Saturday, January 07, 2012 5:46 PM

Great Show, I have canoed the river before but not near Oscoda. After seeing the show this morning, with snow on the ground outside, I think my wife and I will be visiting Oscoda this summer. I could feel the warmth and smell the trees. We like to kayak so I know we will spend some time on the water. Our son and three grandsons will love to camp there. Thanks, great show.

I watched your show on tv today Jan 14th 2012 about the hiking trails along the Ausable River near Oscoda. I saw the maps of the hiking trails along the Ausable River that you showed on the show and would like to find out how I could get them. I like to hike and I also do some Cross Country sking. I have been on the Corsair trail and also the Eagle Run trail near Oscoda. I always have enjoyed the State that I live in and would not move anywhere else.

- Hi Raymond,
There are maps available online on the travel planner for this episode. You should be able to find everything that you are looking for there.

I love the show. The only place I can find it is on WBST CH 49 in Muncie IN. Being originally from Michigan, born and raised there till I was 15, alot of the shows remind me of what I miss a great deal. I want to go on vacation and keep planning it every year but the money never seems to hold up. Should make it by this year but with a kid in college full time still worried about the money.

Amazing that my first trip ever to Houghton Lake was the Tip Up Town in 1964. I used to stay at Korbinski's Lakeview Motel since about 1978. Watching your show I was amazed at how much I have missed in the Roscommon area. I will use the show to plan my next trip up north soon. I sold my ORV but enjoyed riding that with my grand daughter around the Leota area trails. She loves to fish so we will stop at Korninski's Marina and see if we can rent a boat for the day and try our luck. Thank you for a great program.
