Mick Davis - Bronson, MI
We really enjoyed this week's show. We have been wanting to get more involved in winter activities, especially snowshoeing. We hike quite a bit and thought snowshoeing would be a natural winter activity for us. On the show you mentioned being able to rent snowshoes. That would seem like a good starting point for us. |

I'm an avid "collector" of lighthouses and have photographed around 35, as well as 77 waterfalls of Michigan. I was intrigued as you showed lighthouses I have not photographed. Thank you. |

Great show. I've done some snowmobiling, fishing,

What did I think of this week's show? This week's show as well as all episodes was absolutely beautiful. Northern Michigan has the most beautiful scenery in the winter, and summer than any other state. My wife and I love Michigan and Great Getaways. I am 41 yrs old and have been watching the show religously every Saturday morning since I discovered it back in the mid to late 90s I believe. Your show is enjoyed by people of all ages. I wish I was able to get up north and participate in all of the wonderful winter activities but since I can't, I live it through your show. Tom is a great host for this show and it would not be the same without him. Tom and everybody, please keep up the good work & keep the awesome shows coming and I will keep watching. I appreciate having this show on PBS(WTVS & WCMU). |

The Campbells - White Lake, MI
Once again we have just seen another part of the beautiful
Upper Peninsula that we didn't know existed! My husband and I
grew up in Michigan and every year we take a week in early
winter to explore the U.P. We have driven thru Schoolcraft County many times but have never been to Palms State Park
or the beautiful Big Springs. Thank you for showcasing this
quiet little peace of heaven in this week's episode. Happy to
be living in the "greatest" of our States! |
Saturday, January 07, 2012 12:45 PM
Beverly Bandt - Applegate, MI
Enjoyed it very much. You showed some places we weren't familiar with in the Hiawatha Nat'l Forest. Also found the Schoolcraft Environmental Lab interesting--but need details on location so we can go there. The show is so interesting, you could have filled a whole hour or more. |

I really enjoyed this episode as the UP is a completely different place in the winter. |
Saturday, January 07, 2012 4:40 PM
Paula Parkinson - Caro, MI
The scenery was spectacularly photographed. Storyline of your adventure throughout the program flowed nicely. Narration was also interesting, clear, and spoken at a good relaxing, and understandable pace.
Areas in the U.P that are off the beaten path and I feel are exquisite, beautiful, and never seen by most are several. Although you already probably know of them.
Gee, almost wish I could go.
Enjoyed your show! Nice to reminisce after living up there between 1980 & 1984. Should've stayed. |

Amazing that my first trip ever to Houghton Lake was the Tip Up Town in 1964. I used to stay at Korbinski's Lakeview Motel since about 1978. Watching your show I was amazed at how much I have missed in the Roscommon area. I will use the show to plan my next trip up north soon. I sold my ORV but enjoyed riding that with my grand daughter around the Leota area trails. She loves to fish so we will stop at Korninski's Marina and see if we can rent a boat for the day and try our luck. Thank you for a great program. |
