Dear Tom,
We just wanted to let you know we look forward every week to watching your program. It is very informative and enjoyable. The information you present gives my wife and I many ways to enjoy our great state of Michigan. We have been to many of the places you have shown. Being retired now and owning a new fifthwheel travel trailer we look forward to being able to enjoy all the more the places you have shown the public through your great program. We watch your program every Sun. on W.G.V.U channel 52 Grand Rapids.
Thanks again
Jim & Beth Rose Kalamazoo Mich
P.S. Your program today (8-14-05) was great we printed the information on your web. site for use at a later date. We always stop at Seney Refuge every year on our way to Copper Harbor and many places along the way. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for the wonderful tour of the State Parks of the UP. I enjoyed watching it very much. What a beautiful state. I was born in Escanaba and have not been to the UP since we moved to Indiana in 1957. I remember going to Wells State Park when I was very young and it was wonderful to see it on your show.
Thanks again to you and PBS.

Hi,
We started watching your show a couple months ago after happening on it on WCMU (dishNetwork), and have enjoyed your highlights of northern travels. A couple weeks ago, you aired a piece on Stoney Acres Winery, who attended the Mill Creek Days here in Hillman, MI. Their wines are unique and we bought a half case for our next dealer meeting next month with our associates. We also plan to book one of the Great Lakes cruises as you highlighted this week. Keep up the good presentations. We enjoy them.

Tom,
my name is Ken Drinkard and every Saturday I wake up to your show.It gets me all itchy underfoot to run the roads. Even if I drive for a living I still yearn for traveling somewhere that I want to go. The reason Im confused is the show I watched at 8 am on PBS did not match what is on the home page of your site. Grey County has been there a while . Other than that Id like to see more real wilderness situations as in fly in camps in Ontario, specificly Algoma Country. I used to watch Wings over Canada on PBS and it was like being there , even if I cant. Lets get on the stick, and get off the wagon! If you get the drift. Sorry to offend anyone, but having Scotch and French mix makes one have a differant attitude, what do you think? Good Luck,Sir And God speed!
We will do our best.

Tom,
I’ve been watching your show for quite a while and really enjoy it. I always get myself up early on Saturday mornings just to watch it. The only thing I’m sad about it is I really miss the old music, the old name (Northern Experiences) and the old narrator. Why did you change it??? I love it when you play some of the older shows the way they used to be. I miss hearing that song “…. Come with me, to the north country.”

It also was supp. to be on Channel 30 which for me would be Channel 2 at 11:00a.m. and it wasn't on then either. The Cable TV Guide Channel had it listed as being on at 11, but the reg TV guide had something else listed. AT 8 they had on some children's program with Mary Lou Retton--Michigan Magazine was supp. to be on at 8:30, and that wasn't on either. I haven't watched in awhile due to my work schedule, so I was very dissappointed. Help!!!

Hi Linda,
I am really baffled, I checked the Detroit news TV listings for yesterday at 8am I also checked WTVS and both had us listed to run yesterday. I have also checked our e-mail request form and we received a lot of request for information between 8 and 9 am yesterday and that is the only stations that runs us on Saturday morning. If you could give me the name of the cable system and your area I would like to follow up on that also. Sincerely

If you can bear with me, I have another tricky question for you. On this program: 239 An Ontario Garden Tour 9/29/04 you featured 5 of the 42 gardens. I know that Lavendar Gardens and Keppel Croft were 2 of them. I was wondering if you could tell me the names of the other 3 if you have them. I also loved that you featured the Spirit Rock Conservatory and the Big Bay General Store's ice cream. Canada has so many amazing secret places like this that are so much fun to discover. Thank you for making our vacations something to look forward to.

Hi Tom,
I've been a loyal fan for many years and watch your show every Saturday morning (I've even got my fiancé watching now). You and your staff do a great job of spotlighting the Great Lakes area and I look forward to your new shows. I know you probably get bombarded with requests for places to visit & film. But if you're interested in a potential place, I have one for you. Over the past 30 years, we've been heading to the northern tip of Georgian Bay to fish in Beaverstone Bay (pike muskie, & bass). We fish out of the Mahzenazing River Lodge (link is below) in the Collins Inlet. It was an old logging camp from the mid-late 1800s that was converted into a hunting and fishing camp many years ago. Some of the old structures still exist. There is also a nearby Indian Reservation, Pt. Grondine. The fishing is generally good (even you can catch one), but the rugged terrain is spectacular. You can only get to the camp by boat (or air) out of Killarney, Ontario. Below are few websites of the camp. http://www.mazriverlodge.com/ http://www.ontarioghosttowns.com/collins.html We're headed there in July 2005 for a long awaited fishing trip. If you're interested, I would be more than happy to provide more information and suggest other places in the area to visit. It's about 8 hours from metro Detroit. I wish you continued success with your show.

Chip Quasney -
Hi Chip,
Sorry that I am just getting back with you but I was out of town and now I am playing catch up. It really sounds like a great trip. I know that this year is out as we are completely booked until the firs of next year as far as shoots. When a loyal viewer of the show makes a great offer like this it is really hard to say no to unfortunately I must. I have my 3rd grand child on the way so things are going to get even busier. If the offer still stands please contact me early next year and I will take it to my producer and see what we can do. The other problem I have doing all the great things that come along is I work full time for GM so when I retire here in a couple of years it will give me more time. Thanks for the offer I do appreciate it even though I can't take you up on it. (Especially if I can catch a fish)

Maybe you could do a show in our area sometime. It's a beautiful lake. Yes, I would like to continue receiving your news. You did reply to my request to use one of the adventures in Michigan for a fundraiser for my Lions Club. I have always loved your shows. I loved you Northern Experience shows. I grew up in Muskegon and now live in Williamston. We finally have a pop-up camper so we want to start taking summer vacations up north and enjoy the outdoors.

On Jan. 26, 2005 you televised 304 Mission Peninsula Wine Tour. We missed it can you or will you be able to tell me when it will air again or if it will even air again.
Thank you,
Debbie Maglothin
Hi Deb,
It will be running again starting 3/16/05. Check your local listing for exact day that PBS airs Great Getaways in your area. I believe it is Saturdays and Tuesdays. If you should miss it again watch our show schedule because it will air again this fall.

Thanks for the speedy reply Tom. We have been reviewing your upcoming shows on a regular basis. Unfortunately, we have been watching for over a year and have never seen this particular show ( 0106 ). On the flip side, we have seen duplicate shows pertaining to; Northern Minnesota, Oscoda( Ausable River ), Western Michigan Wineries, Pelle Island Ontario and The Thunder Bay Resort to name a few. While we enjoy watching all of these shows again, please consider this a formal request to run episode '0106' in the very near future. It would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
The Peters' Family
Keep an eye on our schedule. We will run it again but I am not sure when.

Tom,
We have heard that you ran a show in the past about the East Side of the State titled the above. Do you have any future plans to rerun this episode? If so, please let us know when. We own Property near Rogers City and are interested in the N.E. section of the L.P.
Thanks,

We hate to be pests but were under the impression from the Great Getaways
program that we cound obtain the route televised on 11/10/04 #245 Fall
Journey. We would like to take the same route this fall. We received a
booklet of Upper Mich. but were looking for the same route televised. Is
this available?
Hi,
I am sorry we don't have the exact trip mapped out. You will find different
fall trips mapped out in the U.P. Guide.
