March 2009

What did you think of this week's show?

Monday, March 02, 2009 2:49 PM
Wesley  Luckhardt - Shepherd, MI

I teach a beverages class at Central Michigan University and I would like to know, as well as teach my students, more about Michigan wines.  This wine trails show was a good one so I can tell the students where to go, right here in this state, to see wineries and to sample Michigan products.

I'm highly addicted to watching your weekly shows, and very rarely do I ever miss an episode, but there's something about Manistique that I really love....Great show.

I didn't know there was so much to see and do in the Houghton Lake area. Great Show!

My husband and I both love waterfalls and lighthouses, so we are planning to visit Grey and Bruce counties this summer.  Thanks for the great ideas!

I liked it. My wife and I are going to book a trip to Oscoda for canoing and take the 2 kids for a family adventure weekend. Thanks for a quailty show.

Can you please provide information on the hiking trail that was part of you show on the highbanks trail. I only caught the end of that segment and would appreciate finding out where the trail head is located, how long the trail is, and what the name of the lake is that the hike ended at. I'd like to possibily use the trail for a Boy Scout backpacking trip. I've hiked the highbanks trail along the river, but the trail featured at the end of you program was different.
Thank you,
Rick Ceresa

Hi Rick,
I think the trail you are referring to was in last week's show. The trail is called the Reid Lake Foot Travel Area, and there is more info
here. I hope that's what you are looking for.
Thanks for watching,
Bryan McGuire

It was well done. I like Michigan history as I have lived in Michigan all my life and have about 5 acres in Kalkaska county where I spend alot of time hunting and enjoying the outdoors.

What I like most about the Oscoda area is that it's reachable within a tank of gas and offers a ton of fun activities.  Thanks to today's episode, my family & I will have to check out the hiking trails too!

I would love the free dvd of the High Banks show. I am amazed!  I kayaked a small area of the AuSable River with a friend, but had NO idea the beauty of the High Banks Trail.  I would like the dvd, will get a map, and will plan on hiking and camping this trail this summer or fall.  THANKS for opening my eyes to yet another wonderful place in "my backyard".  (also want to show the dvd to visitors to get them excited).

I was very interested in ths weeks show. I an always looking for things that my family can do and places locally that we can visit. We love the outdoors and and enjoy places we can see within a days ride from home.

The AuSable is beautiful. Thank you for showing me that you don\'t have to drive to the UP to see unspoiled wilderness. I hope to be taking my family on these same trails this Summer. Thanks again for producing this informative show.

I always enjoy watching your shows.  The information provided on the show and on your website makes it easier for me to plan our family vacations.  We love spending time in Northern Michigan! Thank You!

I loved this episode because it reminded me to get back up to Michigan in the spring and fall to enjoy those wonderful hikes through the woods.  You made me homesick.  I enjoy living in Florida but it does not offer the same type of wooded hikes that I remember while growing up. I really appreciated the recommendation of using the hat with netting to prevent bug bites around the face.  Here in Florida that is a valuable addition to my hiking gear. Thanks for a great show that really brought back some great memories of childhood.

(The show was) very informative. Thanks! We traveled to Tobermoray and the north channel by boat many many years ago when our kids were younger and now that they are gone, we saw your program on tv and thought it would be a great road trip. I'll be looking forward to seeing your guide.

"Great Getways" not only promotes tourism by providing information about places to visit and just get away from the rut of life's routine but also inspires a respect for the outdoors.

Enjoyed your Circle Tour Program on Manistique. We have been to several of these places and especially like Palm Brook State Park (Big Spring), Fayette and Seney National Wildlife Park. Would like to drive or walk Seney in the spring when all the wildflowers are in bloom and the wild life with their young.

This was a great show. I enjoyed all of the different stops more than visiting one area. Thank you for the interesting areas.

It was great! I particularly enjoyed the segments on areas that only your show had information about. My father and I just bought land on the garden peninsula, so it was a good opportunity to see what's available to us up there. Thank you!

Watched with great interest, because we are staying aweek in mid June near Mar on Lk Huron side.  We hope to see everything! We are photographers and cannot wait to see the wildflowers, lighthouses, rugged terain, waterfalls, and the blue Georgian Bay.  Your shows have convinced us to go to the Bruce.  If you have other guides, we could surely use them too.  Thanks for enlightening us about this beautiful area.  Lenore

Nice to see a bike-oriented show.  I've ridden in 49 states and most of the provinces and I always like to go back and see new things.
