We liked this week’s show! You visited some of my favorite places, but I haven't seen the tall ships. I would like to see them, along with the antique mall and some of the other places I haven't been. Also, I loved the Winds of November episode from a few weeks ago. We really like your show! |

I enjoyed the presentation very much, but was you should know that you missed several of the State Parks in the Upper Peninsula. Lake Gogebic, Baraga, and Twin Lakes are full fledged parks that have been around for a long time. While they are relatively small, they offer much for the public, certainly as much as Brimley, Muskallonge, and Bewabic for example..
You might also have include a bit on the downhill skiing facilities (as well as outstanding XC facilities) at the Porkies, one of the oldest in the country. While the terrain features are not the Rockies, and have been allowed to deteriorate by the MDNR, they are unique and offer features not seen anywhere else in the midwest, and perhaps the country. The overlook of Lake Superior from the hill in the winter is just as inspiring, in its own way, as anything in the Rockies in my judgement, and I've enjoyed both!
Since you included Laughing Whitefish, you probably should have included Bond Falls in Ontonagon County, as well as the falls (Wagner, I think) just on the E'ly side of Munising. Both are managed by the Parks & Rec. Division, and are just as impressive.I spent about 34 years working for MDNR (30 in the UP) and had the wonderful opportunity to work at land acquisition efforts at almost every one of the parks described, as well as numerous other sites in the UP such as the tip of the Keewenaw, the mouth of the Big Huron in Baraga County, Little Presque Isle in Marquette County, Simmons Woods in Mackinac Co, and so many others that I could go on and on! Keep up the good work!

It was my first time watching the show, and I really enjoyed it. I've been in the U.P., but never during the winter. During this holiday rush of "shop 'til you drop" with thousands of other folks all around you, it was really refreshing to watch a show celebrating the quiet of the great outdoors. So many people run off to Colorado or California for their vacations, not thinking to spend the time in their own wonderful state. I'm glad that your show highlights the wonderful opportunities to explore our beautiful state of Michigan. Thank you. |
