I thought it was great! My friends just purchased a vacation home in the area and while they haven't spent much time on the "Sunrise" side, my family used to spend part of our vacation time in this area every summer. It has been a long time since I was back on this side of the state. This show brought back a lot of those memories and also showed me new places that my family hadn't visited. |

I have watched the show faithfully for years! Really enjoyed this one and was going to call for more information on the phone number you often show towards the end of the program for the local visitor bureau. The phone number was clipped off on the right and I could not make it out.
Perhaps I need to invest in a HD widescreen??

This is the first time I've seen your show and I will definitely look for it in the future. It was so interesting. I've lived in Northern Michigan all my life and never knew about the Rifle River Recreation Area. I have relatives that visit us every year from California, love nature walks and I was running out of ideas for things to do near our area. This will absolutely be on my list for next summer when they come. I was also interested in the camping and canoeing, both things we like to do. Thanks for promoting our beautiful state. |
Sunday, September 30, 2012 12:30 PM

Love the shows local flavour and the emphasis on low impact travel. |
Sunday, September 30, 2012 6:42 PM
SA Miller - Bellevue, MI
It was awesome. I missed the first couple minutes and wish I hadn't. I wish the show had been a full hour. I'd have sat glued to it the whole time! I've now got this trip on my bucket list.
I've done a LOT of camping, backpacking, etc and prefer the more primitive style. Rifle River and the several lakes look to be just my style!
THANK YOU for the show and keep up the good (AWESOME) work. |

FANTASTIC!!! What a pleasure to see "our town" showcased on public TV. This was a very positive show -- we learned a lot about the area (we retired here) and want to visit the woods and lakes you highlighted.
Many, many thanks. |

Debra Abraham - West Branch, MI
Loved it! I was living and working close to the Rifle River Recreation Area for nearly 40 years and I didn't know what a jewel it was until the last 6 or 7. Since then, my husband and I have tried to go camping there at least once a year, and we make frequent day trips, just to enjoy the beauty. Many of our family and friends stay there, too, and we join them as often as we know they're there. Some of my most beautiful photographs are from the Rifle River Recreation Area. I love to share information about the Rifle River Recreation Area with others. Thank you! |
Tuesday, October 02, 2012 7:02 PM

Ike Iacobelli - Shelby Twp., MI
Great to see someplace that's within one tank of gas that I can go to for hiking, backpacking, and camping. This Rifle River Area looks promising. I only knew of the canoeing aspect of this area before viewing the show, having canoed this river several times 20-30 years ago.
You really put together a great show that shows all the facilities and oppotunities that are available to use and appreciate. Thanks for a "GENUINE" Michigan Outdoors show that is for those of us that choose to experience and appreciate nature in a soft path way other than with guns and hunting and killing animals. The "NO MOTORS" on the lakes up there is very cool. I'm always looking for great places to go hiking here in Michigan!. Great job guys! Thanks |
Tuesday, October 02, 2012 7:01 PM
Ray Stadler - Greenbush, MI

I enjoyed the show on the Rifle River campground so
much that my husband and I said we'd like to plan to visit
next year. I remember my parents taking us to the
swinging bridge as a youngster, good memories! Thank
you for all the facinating and fun places you cover. It's nice to see all of them even if we're not able to
visit them all. Michigan is such a beautiful state. |
Tuesday, October 02, 2012 7:30 PM
Jackie Parko - West Bloomfield, MI
This week's show was informative and comprehensive of what The Rifle River Recreation Area has to offer. We love to hike, camp, fish and kayak and have camped in 19 different Michigan State Parks. Your programs not only give us usable information but the spirit and feelings of what enjoying the great outdoors is all about. I want to share your program with a fellow camper who is recouping. Thank you. |

Paul Messing - Sterling Heights, MI
The show covered nicely what Rifle River Rec Area has to offer. I steward the Michigan Nature Association Lost Lake Nature Sanctuary, and I am delighted to see such a large area located right next door dedicated to providing a pristine outdoor experience. A big take-away was that Rifle River Rec Area does not allow motor boats. The people in the show, like the people I have met there, seem to enjoy the genuine, rustic, natural experience that Rifle River can provide. |
Thursday, October 04, 2012 7:32 PM
Lou Scherzer - Frankenmuth, MI
I just loved it! You took me back to the early 1980's when I was a counselor at Camp Lu Lay Lea on Henderson Lake, and we took the campers on a 21 mile canoe trip on the Rifle River with the connecting lakes of Devoe and Grosehaven. We slept "under the stars" in our sleeping bags in the Rifle River Recreation Park. It was so much fun and such a happy memory for me. |
Thursday, October 04, 2012 7:56 PM
Erik Visser - Grand Rapids, MI

For years I'd had a gift, from some of the folks
in Mid-Michigan, of the Mackinaw Bridge, etched in
Gold. It is numbered. I love and cherish it very
much. I use to travel Michigan for my job in
healthcare. I looked and took photos with the
assistance of the many agencies I worked with on
my project. My grandson, age 12, asked us to take
him to see this bridge, after asking me if it was
a real place. So for 3 years we waited until he
would want to travel alone with the "grands," he
now wants to go to some of the other places I have
photos of. I didn't have many of the beautiful
photo shots you got on video. Living in lower
Michigan I know what I saw. But now my grandson
can get excited about our trip with the things you
all viewed and tried. My photos of picture rock
are nothing like your show's photos of the falls.
I am not a professional like you are but I love
what you do. I
look forward to seeing you up north soon. |
Tuesday, October 09, 2012 8:24 PM
