Show Introduction

Founded in 1845, Frankenmuth was originally settled by German-Lutheran missionaries who came to share their Christian faith with Michigan’s Chippewa Indians. Today, this thriving community reflects the warmth, charm and hospitality of the German culture. No wonder it’s one of Michigan’s top visitor destinations. More than 2 million people visit Frankenmuth every year.

Frankenmuth is best known for its “World Famous Chicken Dinners” served at the Bavarian Inn Restaurant and Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth. Add the beautiful scenery, flower-lined streets, and hundreds of places to shop, and it’s easy to see why people return again and again.

Frankenmuth is always celebrating its heritage. From Oktoberfest to the World Expo of Beer to the Bavarian Festival and more, Michigan’s Little Bavaria is the place for the whole family to experience German culture, food and fun year ‘round. The Frankenmuth Historical Museum captures the history of the area and its people.
