The North Channel

At the furthest reaches of Lake Huron lies the North Channel. This crystal clear, unspoiled stretch of freshwater runs east and west between the Ontario shore and Manitoulin Island on the great Georgian Bay. Home to thousands of uninhabited islands, the scenic beauty of the North Channel offers some of America's most beautiful cruising and recreational opportunities. Virtually untouched by the tides of time, the North Channel harkens the spirits of sailors, Indian warriors and voyageurs from the distant past.

One of the best ways to visit the North Channel is a leisurely cruise aboard the passenger vessel the ChiCheemon ferry, which makes the two hour trek from Owen Sound on the Bruce Peninsula to the massive Manitoulin Island, the world's largest freshwater island.
