In the charming lakeshore community of Kincardine, nestled along the shoreline at the end of the harbor at the edge of the Penetangore River, stands one of the loveliest lighthouses in Canada. The Kincardine Rear Range Lighthouse features an octagonal wooden tower that rises a graceful thirty feet above the roof of the dwelling. Painted a crisp white with bright red trim, the lighthouse was built in 1881. Today it is one of two working lights guiding vessels safely in and out of the harbor here. The small Kincardine Front Range tower is located a quarter mile away and is much less remarkable.

Every evening in July and August (except Saturdays) visitors to the Kincardine Rear Range Lighthouse will be serenaded by the tranquil sounds of bagpipes at sunset.

Directions: To reach the Kincardine Rear Range Lighthouse, turn off Highway 21 at Kincardine Avenue and head west about one mile to Queen Street. Follow Queen Street north for one mile then drive west on Harbor Street for two blocks.
